Romanian Navy frigate goes to the Mediterranean for mission

The frigate Regina Maria is preparing to assume naval command in NATO Operation Sea Guardian for the second time in five years. Frigate Regina Maria-222 departed Constanta Military Port on Thursday, August 28, to participate in the NATO operation as a command ship. For approximately 50 days, the Romanian Navy ship will monitor maritime traffic and deter potential threats in its area of responsibility, while also carrying out maritime security reinforcement missions along NATO's southern flank. The mission will include the Regina Maria naval group, a Croatian Navy ship, an Italian Navy submarine, and an aircraft from the Portuguese Air Force. NATO Operation Sea Guardian contributes to strengthening Romania's strategic profile and reflects the country's commitment to ensuring maritime security and improving its capacity to rapidly respond to threats.
