The world's care products giant withdrew from Türkiye after 25 years!

The Competition Authority has conditionally approved the takeover of sole control of Belgium-based Ontex Consumer Products Industry and Trade Inc. by Dilek Food Production and Marketing Trade Inc., under the management of Murat Kılıç. Thus, Belgium-based Ontex's Turkey operations are now under the Dilek Group umbrella.
Ontex acquired Astel, the manufacturer of the diaper brands Canbebe, Canlady and Canped in Türkiye, in 2000.
Eight months after reports emerged in February that the Belgium-based giant would divest its assets in Türkiye, the sale became official. The sale covers Ontex's production facilities, export operations, and operations in Türkiye.
Filming after 25 yearsOntex, known for its diaper brands Canbebe, Canped, and Canlady, entered Türkiye in 2000. The company acquired Astel, the manufacturer of these brands, and entered the market. After approximately 25 years, Ontex ceased operations in Türkiye and withdrew from the market.
Founded in 1979, Ontex reached a turnover of €2.3 billion by 2023. The company, which has production facilities in Europe, North Africa, China, Australia, the Middle East, and the Americas, was acquired by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Texas Pacific Group for €1.2 billion in 2010.
