1,800 PLN per month for an apartment for everyone. Payments coming soon.
  • From July 1, uniformed services officers were to receive a new housing allowance ranging from PLN 900 to PLN 1,800 per month.
  • However, the government has not yet introduced the appropriate regulations, which are still under consideration.
  • The benefit, modeled on the military system, is intended to support, among other things, renting an apartment or repaying a loan.

A new housing allowance for uniformed services, ranging from PLN 900 to PLN 1,800, is expected to come into effect soon. The solution is modeled on the system in force in the Polish Armed Forces and will cover officers:

  • Police,
  • Border Guard,
  • State Fire Service,
  • State Protection Services.

The reform was supposed to take effect on July 1st. However, the government failed to adopt the regulations in time. The project is currently at the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers stage, and it is unclear when it will be finalized.

The new benefits are designed to provide officers with greater flexibility and better tailor their housing to their needs. They will be able to access one of four forms of support:

  • housing benefit,
  • allocation of residential premises,
  • allocation of temporary accommodation,
  • a place in a boarding school or dormitory.

The money will be tax-exempt, and officers will be able to use the funds for things like renting a property or paying off a mortgage.

1,800 PLN housing subsidy. Payments were to begin on July 1st.

The current system, as we read in the press release, did not keep up with reality and was limited to small additions that did not meet the real needs of officers.

Together with the minister, after consultations with police officers and trade unions, we have developed a solution that could significantly improve the financial situation of officers in the short term. A key step is to equalize their housing benefits with those of Polish Army soldiers, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in February.

The new solution is intended to counteract the problem of leaving the police force.
