Intel, Trump scores another coup: the US government buys 10% of its stake for $8.9 billion.

Intel will sell a 10% stake to the United States. US President Donald Trump made the claim at a White House press conference, referring to the proposal made to Intel to acquire a stake in the American semiconductor and processor manufacturer. The deal, announced by Donald Trump on Friday and confirmed by the company, involves a federal investment of $8.9 billion in equity , financed with funds allocated by the Chips and Science Act of 2022, which have not yet been disbursed.
"They've had terrible management over the years and have suffered losses. I said, 'I think you should pay us 10% of the company.' They said yes. I think it's a great deal for them. It's about $10 billion," Trump concluded.
