Turkish Armed Forces' mandate in Lebanon extended

The two-year authority granted to the President by the Turkish Grand National Assembly to "send the Turkish Armed Forces to Iraq and Syria to conduct cross-border operations and interventions when necessary" expires on October 30, 2025. The one-year authority granted to the President regarding "Türkiye's contribution to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) with Turkish Armed Forces elements" expires on October 31.
Presidential motions signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the extension of Türkiye's period for sending troops to Syria and Iraq for another three years, starting from October 30, and for sending troops to Lebanon for another two years, starting from October 31, were submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
At the end of the proposal discussion, it was decided to extend the TAF's mission in Lebanon.
