The Arbitration Committee convened without workers

LABOR SERVICE
The first meeting of the Public Officials Arbitration Board in the negotiations for the 8th Term Collective Labor Agreement, which will determine the two-year raise rates for public workers and retirees, was held yesterday at the Court of Accounts.
Despite announcing that they would not send members, members of Sağlık-Sen and Kamu-Sen, which are affiliated with Memur-Sen , also attended the meeting.
The AKP government, the public employer, had proposed an 11 percent increase for the first six months of next year and a 7 percent increase for the second six months for over 6.5 million public workers and retirees. When Memur-Sen, the authorized confederation that was supposed to represent the workers, refused to go to the Committee, the public employer appealed to the 11-member Committee , six of whose members were directly appointed by AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Despite having the right to send a member to the panel, Birleşik Kamu-İş, which protested the meeting, was not seated at the table, but instead, 10 members, including members of Memur-Sen and Kamu-Sen, sat at the table. While no decisions were made outside of the work schedule at the first meeting, the panel's decision, made by August 31st, will be binding. The decision cannot be appealed or filed.
