AKP breaks sales records of 23 years

AKP breaks sales records of 23 years

During the AKP government, many public assets, including those acquired with great effort in the early years of the Republic, were sold off for next to nothing. Turkey's privatization history was virtually rewritten during the AKP government. During the AKP years, Turkey witnessed privatizations on a scale never seen before in its history. While many public institutions were sacrificed to privatization, public institutions were reduced to the status of tenants.

The distribution of income from the sale of public real estate over the years also revealed the government's reckless attitude towards public assets. The income from the sale of public real estate between November and June 2025, when the AKP came to power, was 33 billion 739 million 241 thousand TL.

The government's tradition of selling public assets through auctions continued in 2025. It was learned that the income obtained from the sale of public real estate between January 1, 2025 and June 30, 2025 was the highest amount of the 2002-2025 period. A total of 8 billion 422 million 630 thousand 320 TL was obtained from the sale of public real estate in the January-June 2025 period.

The total income from the sale of public real estate, which was 8.4 billion TL in the first half of 2025, was listed as follows according to some years in the 2002-2024 period:

2002: 12 million 56 thousand TL

2007: 1 billion 137 million 243 thousand TL

2012: 564 million 645 thousand TL

2017: 343 million 279 thousand TL

2022: 7 billion 597 million 244 thousand TL
