Home Savings, Punitive Transfers and Missed Salaries. The Cgil Complaint

The inauguration of Risparmio Casa in Legnano, the sales point at the center of the dispute together with Nerviano
The situation is heated at Risparmio Casa stores in Legnano and Nerviano . Filcams Cgil Ticino Olona has declared a state of agitation following serious breaches reported against workers, in particular those from the former Grancasa, a company of which Risparmio Casa acquired a branch on 4 November 2023. According to the union, the employees concerned have not yet received their April wages, despite the national collective agreement and company regulations setting the payment deadline for 10 May. This is not only a formally serious omission, but, according to Filcams, it is a discriminatory act: the failure to pay only concerns staff from Grancasa , thus creating a rift between colleagues and a working climate marked by injustice and inequality. To make the situation even worse, the union organization reports unilateral transfers imposed by the company, with destinations hundreds of kilometres away from the homes of the employees involved. Transfers that, in addition to not having been discussed with the social partners, would have a heavy impact on the personal and family lives of workers, already put to the test by the delay in salaries. "We are not dealing with simple irregularities - says Filcams Cgil Ticino Olona - but with serious behavior that is harmful to the dignity of people. You cannot play with the lives of workers as if they were numbers to be moved on a chessboard. The company must answer for its responsibilities". The state of agitation is therefore already active and the union reserves the right to adopt further forms of mobilization and protest, including strikes, to protect the income and rights of the people involved. "We will not accept impositions, discrimination or abuse. Workers are not numbers. They are people", we read at the end of the press release. The dispute is destined to be discussed, also for the implications it could have on other companies involved in acquisitions and reorganizations, and will be followed carefully both by the trade union world and by local institutions.
