Fight against depopulation, the Sardinia Region allocates 40 million

The measure through the de minimis regime and with the tax credit formula intended for companies that have activated at least one operational unit in a municipality with less than 3,000 inhabitants by 31 December 2023

An economic incentive for businesses to combat the depopulation of small towns. This is the initiative promoted by the Sardinia Region, which has decided to spend 40 million euros this year. Amounts that will be paid out following the "de minimis" regime, precisely to "promote the development and growth of municipalities with a population of less than 3,000 inhabitants.

The measure is that of the tax credit and is intended for companies with tax domicile in Sardinia "that have activated at least one operational unit in the territory of a small municipality by 31 December 2023".

«The tax credit - the Region informs - is measured at 40% of the tax due and paid as resulting from the income tax returns and IRAP for the year 2023 and at an additional 2,000 euros for each employee hired on a permanent contract in 2023».

The overall allocation for the 2025 financial year is almost 40 million euros and the measure will be disbursed through the Sardinian Revenue Agency with the "over-the-counter" method and until the resources run out.
