Cgia Mestre: US tariffs damage FVG exports by $1 billion

The 30% tariffs imposed on the EU by US President Donald Trump will cause a billion-euro loss to exports from Friuli Venezia Giulia. This is the calculation made by the Mestre-based CGIA Research Office, coordinated by Paolo Zabeo. The percentage was disclosed this afternoon, at the opening of the letter in which Trump communicated to Europe the level of tariffs the US will apply starting August 1st.
Our region is well-positioned for exports to the United States, which reached an economic value of €2.37 billion in 2024. The best-selling goods are ships and boats, furniture, and special-purpose machinery. In the 2024 provincial rankings, Gorizia topped the podium with exports just over €1 billion. In second and third place were Udine and Pordenone with exports of €635 million and €548 million, respectively. The province of Trieste will be the least affected by Trump's tariffs, having shipped €127 million in goods to the United States last year.
