The World Bank accelerates loan delivery to Argentina

Following the meeting between Javier Milei and Donald Trump, the World Bank made important announcements for the country. According to its official website, it will intensify its support for Argentina by providing loans totaling US$4 billion "in the coming months," as "support for the country's reforms and its long-term growth agenda."
This was announced by the organization chaired by Ajay Banga, who detailed that it will combine public sector financing with private sector investment and mobilization.
The economic aid package will focus on what the World Bank described as "the main drivers of competitiveness": unlocking mining and critical minerals; boosting tourism as a source of employment and local development; expanding access to energy; and strengthening supply chains and financing for SMEs.
The acceleration in support for the country stems from the agreement the World Bank formalized with the National Government in mid-April. The total is US$12 billion.
"It reflects strong confidence in the government's efforts to modernize the economy, promote structural reforms, attract private investment, and create jobs," the agency's statement said.
