The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) took a historic step toward energy sustainability with the installation of solar plants at its headquarters in the capital of Bolívar, which will enable annual energy savings of nearly 720 million pesos. Where were the first panels installed?
271 solar panels were installed on the roof of the Tax building, with an installed capacity of 160 kW AC, while the solar plant of the Customs building has 516 panels, which will have an installed capacity of 250 kW AC. The entity in charge of tax collection and control at the national level thus became the first organization in the public sector to modernize its equipment and reduce operating costs by adopting renewable energy. It is important to emphasize that in addition to economic efficiency, the initiative represents a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint and to the sustainability objectives that the country has been promoting within the framework of the energy transition.

According to Luis Eduardo Llinás Chica, Director General of the DIAN , this is the beginning of a process that will extend to other branches in the Caribbean and, subsequently, nationwide. "We are very pleased because we will expand this process, which begins today, to the Caribbean region and, later, to the entire country. It is an effort that will not only be rewarded in our clean energy generation capacity, but will also help us eliminate our carbon footprint," he stated. The project demonstrates that the public sector can become a pioneer and benchmark by reflecting a true commitment to innovation, efficiency, and caring for the planet. These types of projects not only strengthen institutional sustainability but also send a clear message of leadership to other organizations and the private sector to move toward a cleaner and more responsible energy model.
"With this infrastructure, each campus will be able to generate part of its own energy sustainably, promoting a positive environmental impact and contributing to energy self-sufficiency," Llinás Chica emphasized.

What are the benefits of solar panels?Solar energy is now positioned as one of the most efficient and sustainable options for generating electricity. Incorporating solar panels not only means embracing technological innovation, but also making a smart decision that allows you to save money and, at the same time, protect the environment. According to "Solar Reviews," these are its benefits: 1. Clean energy: They generate electricity without polluting or emitting greenhouse gases. 2. Energy independence: They reduce dependence on electric companies and operate in isolated areas. 3. Low maintenance: They only require periodic cleaning and basic checks. 4. Higher property value: Homes with panels are more attractive and valuable on the market. 5. Positive impact on the environment: They promote sustainability, create green jobs, and reduce pollution.
