Federal election: Ten constituency duels – and what they reveal about the mood in the country

The fact that every vote really counts, and I mean every one, was proven on Sunday evening in Baden-Württemberg, in the Stuttgart I constituency. The Green candidate Simone Fischer received 28.3 percent when the first votes were counted, and the CDU candidate Elisabeth Schick-Ebert also received 28.3 percent. The previous state commissioner for the disabled, Fischer, however, received 16 more votes than the management consultant Schick-Ebert, 45,668 to 45,652 votes - it couldn't be closer.
