British Gas to offer half-price electricity today - check if you can benefit

British Gas will host its fourth Green Flex event of the year today, April 16, offering customers half-price electricity from 11am to 1pm. This initiative is part of the energy giant’s effort to encourage more sustainable energy usage.
Through the PeakSave Green Flex events, British Gas allows customers to lower their bills by shifting electricity use to when wind or solar power is high. These events are announced in advance, and customers receive email notifications detailing the specific time slots. Green Flex events run alongside British Gas’s regular PeakSave Sunday scheme, which offers half-price electricity every Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
Customers are encouraged to take advantage of the discounted period for energy-heavy tasks like laundry, cooking, or watching TV.
British Gas schedules these events using its own forecasting models, with an aim to balance energy consumption with grid demand while testing potential savings.
Customers participating in the scheme will see the discount applied as a credit on their energy bills.
Households must be British Gas customers with a smart electricity meter to benefit from the half-price savings. Customers must also register for the PeakSave scheme to take part. New customers can book a free smart meter with half-hourly data and join the scheme here.
The Green Flex events are open to both new and existing PeakSave customers.
Since its launch, the PeakSave initiative has paid over £23million to over 920,000 customer, who have collectively shifted 27,765 MWH of energy.
For more details on how to participate in today's event, customers should check their emails for specific instructions and event times.
