Aldi to give shoppers free wine - but they must act before this date

Aldi will be giving away free wine to shoppers, and all they need to do is taste it and share a review on social media.
The discount supermarket chain has brought back its "Winefluencer Club" for another year which allows Aldi shoppers to test wine from its spring/summer wine range. Under the initiative, 10 shoppers are picked and then sent free bottles of wine over the course of three months, which they then need to review and post on social media - this could be through Instagram reels, TikTok reviews, or YouTube tutorials.
Alongside this, wine club members will also enjoy a sneak peek at Aldi's Autumn Winter range before its September release.
To be in with a chance of selection, shoppers must email [email protected] with their full name, social media handle and proof of age in the form of a photo of their passport or driving licence. They must also say what their favourite Aldi wine is and why, and write 150 words explaining why they should be selected to join the club. Applications for the Winefluencer Club are open now and will close on March 18.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: "At Aldi, we’re embracing the changing world of wine. With the launch of our Winefluencer Club, we’re not just offering great wine, we’re creating a community where passionate wine lovers can share their thoughts on the range. It’s all about making wine something that everyone can enjoy, no matter their level of expertise."
To guide the aspiring winefluencers, Aldi has also teamed up with social media star Liam D’Arcy, AKA @thewinewally, who has built his Instagram following to 104,000 by demystifying wine and making it more accessible to a wider audience. He says: "This is a fantastic opportunity for wine lovers – not only to taste Aldi’s amazing wine for free, but to develop their skills, grow their audience and help others discover top picks from the latest range."
For those aspiring to join the wine club, Liam has shared a few tips on how you can make your reviews stand out on social media. First, he says "stop the scroll" adding: "Skip the intros. Tell people exactly what wine you’ve discovered or a new hack they'll unlock by watching your content. In this day and age, people want information fast."
He also noted that you should try to keep it "simple" rather than going into too much complicated detail, but you should also try and give the audience something to do. He explained: "Focus on one thing you found exciting or interesting about the wine and build your post around that. If you’re not sure how to describe what you're tasting, don’t stress, just talk about whether it hit or missed your expectations based on what you’ve had before, what it reminded you of, or how it made you feel. No need for fancy wine jargon. To make sure your audience is engaged with your content, encourage them to try the wine, compare it to another, pair it with a recipe, or just head to Aldi to explore the wine aisle. A little nudge goes a long way."
Finally, you should always try and have fun and let your personality "shine through", he added: "Crack a joke, be yourself, and let your audience enjoy the ride. The more fun you have, the more they'll enjoy viewing your content."
