Wedding halls and organizers under the spotlight

Wedding halls and organizers under the spotlight

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance continues its inspections of unregistered areas. Luxury wedding planners and wedding halls were also caught in these unregistered inspections. In a study conducted on wedding halls and companies that provide wedding organization services, a significant discrepancy was observed between declared revenues and actual amounts collected. As part of the revenue inspections that have been ongoing since the beginning of the year, 1,226 actual inspections were conducted in 474 wedding halls in the first phase. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-SUPPORTED ANALYSIS The inspections were not limited to field work. 4,623 taxpayers involved in wedding organization were subjected to an AI-supported analysis process. A large amount of data, such as the taxpayers' tax returns, transaction volumes, bank transactions, invoice arrangements, and social media activities, was examined using association algorithms and big data analytics. ATTENTION ORGANIZERS! The highest discrepancy between revenue and declaration was seen in organization companies that provide luxury wedding services. Around 1,600 taxpayers were evaluated as “risky.” At-risk taxpayers were invited to submit explanations and asked to provide the necessary explanations. The findings revealed the extent of informal economy in these sectors. 3.6 billion lira worth of unregistered income was identified for wedding halls and luxury wedding planners. "WE ARE APPROACHING WITH ZERO TOLERANCE" Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated that they would continue to monitor sectors that contribute to the informal economy. Şimşek said, "Ensuring fairness in taxation is our responsibility to the millions of our citizens who fulfill their obligations. We are approaching the informal economy with zero tolerance."
