Türkiye's best-selling car will no longer be produced

Tofaş CEO Cengiz Elordu answered journalist Emre Özpeynirci's questions during a live broadcast on CNBC-e.
Making noteworthy statements regarding the automotive sector, Elordu announced that the production of the Fiat Egea Sedan, which is Türkiye's best-selling car model and currently holds the title of the most affordable car in Türkiye, will be discontinued in 2024.
Elordu stated that they have sold over 700,000 Egea model vehicles since 2015, and that customer habits have begun to shift from sedan models to SUVs, making the following statement:
'EGEA WILL SAY GOODBYE IN 2026'
We will make our decision regarding Egea production soon. If we decide to extend production, it will be for a maximum of six months. We also want to fill the production quota left vacant by Egea production with a new model.
When making this decision, it's essential to consider customer preferences. Customers are gradually shifting away from sedans and toward SUVs. Egea's success stems from the right product selection. We didn't anticipate this level of success when we made the investment decision. Since 2015, we've sold 700,000 vehicles in approximately 10 years. This is a significant figure, as total production is around 1,350,000. This demonstrates that success can be achieved when you produce the right product at the right price.
Therefore, choosing the right model and understanding what the customer wants is crucial. Achieving similar success with the right model is possible in Türkiye.
