Türk Telekom contributes $20 billion to the national economy

Leading the construction of Türkiye's digital future, Türk Telekom continues its fiber infrastructure investments throughout the country.
Türk Telekom, which has built fiber networks across all 81 provinces to provide "high-speed internet for everyone," has extended its fixed services concession agreement until 2050. Türk Telekom will directly contribute $20 billion to the Turkish economy through investments made during the concession period, which continues until 2050.
A $20 BILLION CONTRIBUTION TO THE TURKISH ECONOMY Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal said, "I'm proud to say that today is a very important day for Türk Telekom and our country. Today marks the official announcement of the extension of Türk Telekom's fixed services privilege, which was set to expire in February 2026, until 2050. We are delighted that this process has been concluded within the best interests of our country, our state, and our company. With this agreement, we will make a direct contribution of $20 billion to the Turkish economy. Furthermore, this new agreement will have a much greater impact on our sector, all technology-based industries, and our country's digital transformation. We are honored to be entrusted with this exceptional responsibility once again. As Türk Telekom, the founder and developer of our country's communications infrastructure, we have undertaken this privilege as a historic mission, driven by a commitment to serving our country and our nation. We have always acted with the awareness that every investment made by Türk Telekom is a gain for Turkey." "We have added value to every corner of our country with our investments. We have always strived to expand our playing field beyond the horizon, both locally and globally. This agreement will present us with numerous new opportunities and enable us to chart a clear and strategic roadmap in line with our goal of completing Turkey's digital transformation. I extend my sincere gratitude to our President, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, the Minister of Treasury and Finance, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority, all our stakeholders whose contributions I cannot even mention, and the invaluable employees of Türk Telekom for their valuable contributions to this process," he said.

506,000 FIBER KILOMETERS Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal said, "As Türk Telekom, there is a truth we have been stating for years: Our infrastructure is Turkey's infrastructure. We are driving Turkey's digital transformation. We are the investment leader in our sector. With our contribution to employment, our investments, and the technologies we produce and export, we have provided significant gains to our state and economy. As of today, our fiber length has exceeded 506,000 kilometers. A half-million-kilometer fiber network is the strongest guarantee of our country's digital future. We support the digitalization of individuals and institutions with our fiber network and fiber home coverage, which has increased to 33.8 million. Another factor as important as fiber penetration is speed. We increased the number of homes to which we can provide 1 Gbps access speed across Turkey to 11.5 million. We also increased our average connection speed to 383 Mbps. The results of our work are also reflected in international reports. According to the data in the FTTH Council report, Turkey is among 39 European countries. In the field of fiber infrastructure, it is the third country in providing fiber infrastructure to the most homes, the fourth country with the most fiber subscribers, and is among the five fastest-growing markets in Europe. We are committed to covering every part of Turkey with fiber networks. Fiber infrastructure is also of great importance for 5G. We have already increased the ratio of LTE base stations required for the transition to 5G to 55%, exceeding the global target for 2030. Strengthened by this, we claim to be the most 5G-ready operator. With our projects that transcend national borders, we see ourselves as an actor shaping the digital future of not only Turkey, but also our region and the world. As you know, we recently launched the fiberization process in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus .
2030 GOALS: FASTER, MORE INCLUSIVE, STRONGER Önal said, "With the renewed concession, we have the opportunity to make uninterrupted investments in the long term and to predictably transform and expand our network. With our ongoing, intensive fiber transformation investments, we will continue to create lasting value by increasing our country's fiber household access rate. With the renewed concession, we aim to increase fiber access to 37 million households, our subscriber base to 17 million, and our average fiber connection speed by sevenfold by 2030. We will continue to strengthen the backbone of the digital ecosystem in many areas that we consider highly important, from virtual networks and quantum communication to data centers and cybersecurity, from artificial intelligence to IoT. We will continue our mission of being our country's flagship in technology with even greater motivation."
