Restaurant prices have surpassed hotel room rates

PRICES INCREASED BY 10 PERCENT
Pointing out that per capita spending rates are affected here, Elite World Hotel CEO Orkun Petekçi said, “Travel costs are increasing. You can stay in a 5-star hotel in Taksim for 100 Euros. But if you go out and eat for two at a proper restaurant, you may pay more than the room rate.” Stating that the tourism sector needs tourists who spend more and that areas that will attract high-income tourists, especially congress tourism, should come to the fore, Petekçi continued as follows:
“There is an increase in the number of visitors. If you look at the top 5 visitors, apart from Germany, Georgia, Russia and Iran are all our next-door neighbors. We need foreigners who spend a lot of money. When that happens, the nature of the business will change even more. I think we still have a long way to go. While a foreign tourist spends 900 dollars, those who come for congress tourism spend twice that amount.” Petekçi, who stated that the exchange rate also negatively affects profit margins, said that prices increased by 10 percent in Euro terms this year.
It will open to Europe from the NetherlandsNoting that the fire disaster in Bolu could create a shift from local branded businesses to branded hotels, Orkun Petekçi stated that security measures also came to the forefront here. Stating that they aim to reach 50 hotels by 2030, Petekçi noted that they will open the first hotel in Europe with Elite World in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.
