Ministry of Trade conducts inspections against 'exorbitant prices' before Ramadan

The Ministry of Trade teams continued their inspections carried out before the month of Ramadan in order to protect consumers against unfair and exorbitant prices. In this context, the Ministry teams inspected restaurants and wholesale markets in Ankara. Inspections were carried out regarding the placement of documents regarding tariffs and price lists, which were made mandatory by the ' Regulation on Amendments to the Price Tag Regulation' that entered into force on January 1, 2024, in front of the entrance doors and on the tables of restaurants, cafes, patisseries and similar businesses that provide food and beverage services. After checking the menus and tariffs in businesses in Mustafa Kemal Neighborhood of Çankaya district, the price lists in the Gimat wholesale market in Yenimahalle district were inspected. Within the scope of the inspections, separate administrative sanctions were imposed on businesses where non-compliance was detected for each product. The inspections carried out by the Ministry aim to prevent consumer victimization by ensuring that consumers are informed accurately and completely. (DHA)
