He mistook his wife's lover for assaulting her! The car door was considered a weapon.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM on January 10th in Edirne. Hamiyet Pehlivan Bingül parked her car in front of her house with her husband and 10-year-old son. As she tried to get out of the car, she was attacked by YK.

YK trapped Bingül's head in the car door. Bingül was injured in the face when he tried to flee, but a security guard from a nearby supermarket caught him. Medical teams dispatched to the scene after receiving a tip-off took Bingül to Trakya University Medical Faculty Hospital for treatment. The suspect, YK, was taken into custody by police. In his statement to the police, YK stated that he mistook Hamiyet Pehlivan Bingül and her husband for his wife and lover, and therefore assaulted them. YK was released after giving his statement to the police.

INDICTMENT COMPLETED

The Edirne Public Prosecutor's Office has finalized an indictment in the investigation into the incident. The indictment states, "On the day of the incident, as the complainant attempted to exit the front right passenger seat of the vehicle parked in front of his residence with his wife, the suspect, who mistook the complainant's wife for his own and believed she was cheating on him, injured the complainant by slamming the vehicle's door in her face. The door was considered a weapon because it was used to gain an advantage in the attack on the suspect during the incident. The suspect thus committed the crime charged, as understood from the entire file, including the complainant's statement, the suspect's statement, the medical report, the witness statement, and camera footage."

The indictment requested a prison sentence of 2 years, 3 months to 4 years, 6 months for suspect YK on charges of "intentional wounding with a weapon." (DHA)
