European unions protest against flights to Israel: No flights to Tel Aviv as long as genocide continues

Unions from across Europe are establishing an international solidarity line against Israel's attacks on Gaza. In protests that began in Belgium and spread to Germany, airport workers are demanding the suspension of flights to Tel Aviv. The campaigns, under the slogan "No flights to Tel Aviv as long as the genocide continues in Gaza," stand out as a rare example of labor movements taking a political stand on a global scale.
Union representatives emphasized that the decision to refuse flights to Israel came directly from airport workers and was a grassroots demand. ACV announced its full support for any member who refuses to work on flights to or from Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, union representatives from French baggage handling company Alyzia also called on Brussels Airport management to withhold support from airlines operating flights to Tel Aviv and to refrain from penalizing employees who refuse to provide cargo services on these flights.
Some airlines have reportedly deployed managers to replace striking workers to ensure flights continue. The strikes and protests point to an ongoing period of conflict at airports.
CALL FOR SUPPORT FROM GERMANYSupport for Belgian workers also came from Germany. German unionists addressed workers at Leipzig/Halle Airport, calling on them to "follow the example of our Belgian colleagues." The joint statement declared, "With international solidarity and cross-border coordination, the labor movement can stop the genocide."
These actions stand out as one of the rare instances of direct involvement by labor movements in Europe, following months of Israeli massacres in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians.
