Development that will endanger the image of Turkish goods: The Ministry's warnings did not work either

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry drew attention to the increase in RASFF (Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed) notifications to Türkiye due to aflatoxin and ochratoxin-A non-compliances detected in dried fig batches exported to the EU.
It was emphasized that this situation could lead to an increase in the 20 percent control frequency applied to Türkiye by the EU, and even more serious measures such as export restrictions, and also carry the risk of damaging the "Made in Turkey" image.
According to the Türkiye Newspaper, the ministry reported that 100% aflatoxin analysis is performed on dried fig exports to EU countries and only certificates are issued for products that are suitable as a result of the analysis, and despite this, the high rate of non-compliance detected at EU border gates shows that the measures taken are not fully implemented in the field. In the warning letter sent to dried fig exporters, the ministry requested that utmost care be taken with the rules in processing and production processes, and that exporters take the necessary measures for the sustainability of dried fig exports from Türkiye to the EU, the preservation of the quality image of Turkish figs and the prevention of export restrictions.
