Altınbaş Holding Honorary President Ali Altınbaş passed away

Altınbaş, who has made significant contributions to the education and business world, was especially known for his contributions to the field of higher education. Ali Altınbaş, who pioneered the establishment process of Altınbaş University and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees since 2008, played an effective role in the university gaining an international vision.

The funeral ceremony will be held at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery after the funeral prayer, which will be held after the afternoon prayer at Zincirlikuyu Mosque in Istanbul on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Who is Ali Altinbas?

Born in 1956 in Hasanoğlu Village of Araban district of Gaziantep, Ali Altınbaş started his education life at Hasanoğlu Village Primary School. After Gaziantep Trade High School Middle School, he graduated from the technical school as a machine technician. Altınbaş, who started his education life as a volunteer teacher, gave importance to education and social development from a young age.

Altınbaş, who started his business life as a jeweler, played an important role in the development of Altınbaş Holding together with his family. He pioneered entrepreneurship by establishing one of the first official importing construction companies in Türkiye and was among the tax record holders during the same period.

Following the death of his father Mehmet Altınbaş in 2003, Ali Altınbaş took over the Chairmanship of Altınbaş Holding and ensured the growth of the holding in different sectors. The foundations of Altınbaş University were laid with the efforts of the Mehmet Altınbaş Education and Culture Foundation, which was established within the framework of the holding's investments in education. Altınbaş University gained an international identity during Ali Altınbaş's term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and began to host students from more than 120 countries.

Ali Altınbaş took an active role in studies on higher education and education exports as a member of the Turkish Higher Education Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and a member of the Education Services Sector Committee of the Turkish Exporters Assembly.
