A new era in the automotive industry: Türkiye's rules will apply to new vehicles

China, the world 's largest automobile market , is taking action against vehicles that are advertised as brand new and then quickly released onto the used market . The Ministry of Industry is currently considering a regulation prohibiting the resale of vehicles within six months of their initial registration .
Years of intense competition and fierce price wars stemming from chronic overproduction have created a unique dynamic in the Chinese automotive sector . In this environment, some manufacturers and dealers have achieved sales targets and alleviated inventory pressure by presenting brand-new vehicles as if they had completed their insurance and then quickly releasing them onto the used market . However, this approach has created trust issues and pricing confusion among consumers .
Auto Review magazine, run by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers , released details about the matter in an editorial on its WeChat account. It also noted that the China Automobile Dealers Association has proposed a separate coding system to ensure tracking and control of used vehicle exports .
The new regulation aims to both prevent fraudulent sales and boost consumer confidence . Chinese authorities are expected to implement the measure in the coming months .
