11 Turkish universities ranked in the top 1000 on the QS 2026 list

The world's leading international higher education rating organization, QS, has announced the 2026 World University Rankings. In the QS 2026 rankings, which evaluated 1,500 universities from 106 countries and regions around the world, 2 Turkish universities entered the top 300, 4 Turkish universities entered the top 400, and 6 Turkish universities entered the top 500. Middle East Technical University (METU) ranked 269th, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) ranked 298th and entered the top 300 universities in the world, while Koç University rose to 323rd, and Boğaziçi University rose to 371st and took their place among the top 400 universities. Sabancı University ranked 404th, and Bilkent University ranked 415th, making them among the top 500 universities in the world. Thus, 6 Turkish universities ranked among the top 500 universities in the world.

26 TURKISH UNIVERSITIES ARE IN THE RANKING

A total of 26 universities from Türkiye entered the rankings. Turkey became the fourth country that made the most progress among countries with more than 20 universities in the rankings. In the 'Employer Reputation' indicator, METU, Boğaziçi and İTÜ entered the world's top 100 universities. In this field, METU ranked 77th, Boğaziçi 88th and İTÜ 91st. 11 Turkish universities managed to take their place in the top 1000. Nine of these universities increased their rankings compared to the previous year, two universities maintained their positions and no university fell. The Turkish universities in the top 1000 and their rankings are as follows; Hacettepe University ranked 571st, İstanbul University ranked 628th, Ankara University ranked 697th, Yıldız Technical University ranked 736th and Gazi University ranked 915th.

According to the statement made by QS; this year's results presented the most successful picture for Turkey to date. The statement drew attention to the rapid rise of Türkiye's international academic reputation. The President of the Council of Higher Education, Erol Özvar, also made a written statement on the subject. Özvar expressed his satisfaction with the continued rise of Turkish universities in world rankings and said, "This success is not a coincidence, we all worked hard together. We will achieve even better. I congratulate all our universities that entered the rankings and made an effort."
