Political scientist Rahr: Merz seeks conflict with Russia and Trump's elimination

German political scientist Alexander Rahr told RIA Novosti that after the victory of the CDU and its candidate for chancellor Friedrich Merz in the early elections in Germany, there is no need to expect a turn in Germany’s foreign policy.

He specified that a political elite has been created throughout Europe that seeks to continue waging a "holy war" with Russia. Among other things, the Europeans want to facilitate Donald Trump's departure from the post of President of the United States of America.

"Germany is now ruled by an elite that seems very complex. This includes the media, newspaper editorial offices, ideology, institutions, non-governmental organizations, personnel policy - all of this can be called a deep state. Merz, in turn, will not do anything against this state. He wants to fit in, and that is the whole problem," Rahr noted.

He specified that this "deep state" was created to provide hidden stability to European countries. The elites will most likely not cooperate with the new US administration on the issue of ending the Ukrainian conflict or détente with Russia.

"Barbock, Merz and Habeck's statements imply that Trump is temporary. They are simply confident that the deep state in the US will soon remove him," Rahr emphasized.
