Total US imports of Russian enriched uranium in January-June 2025 amounted to $755.6 million
The United States increased its purchases of enriched uranium from Russia by almost two-thirds year-on-year in the first half of the year. Russia has once again become the main supplier of uranium to the United States. RIA Novosti obtained these results after calculating data from the American statistical service, Prime reports.
The total import of Russian enriched uranium by the United States in January-June 2025 amounted to $755.6 million. This is 62.2% more than in the same period a year earlier. And by the end of last year, the United States imported uranium from Russia for $623.7 million.
In just the first half of the year, the United States imported almost $2.9 billion worth of enriched uranium, increasing purchases for the year by 21.3%. At the same time, Russia has again become the main supplier. Before that, in the first half of 2024, France was the leader.
In addition to Russia, the top five for January–June 2025 included France ($680.3 million), the United Kingdom ($580.5 million), the Netherlands ($502.5 million), and Germany ($197.6 million). The United States also bought uranium from China for $118.5 million, Japan for $13.8 million, and Belgium for $12.5 million.
