Registration is now open for a free course for journalists on climate change and agriculture.

Embrapa and Sebrae have opened registration for the free online course "Climate Change: Agriculture in the Age of Productivity and Sustainability." This is an opportunity for media professionals to deepen their knowledge of these topics, with practical content and experts who will translate science, unpublished data, and real-world experiences into impactful journalism. The course, which runs from October 1st to 31st, is 100% online and is aimed at journalists from all over Brazil and abroad who are fluent in Portuguese. Registration is open through September 30th at this link .
The course precedes COP30, which takes place from November 10 to 21, in Belém (PA), and seeks to contribute to the preparation of Brazilian journalists and international correspondents who will work on covering the event. It will also be of great importance for monitoring future international actions and agreements after the climate conference in Belém.

With a dynamic methodology, the course combines recorded classes (released on Fridays) with live, interactive meetings (always on Wednesdays in October at 10 a.m. Brasília time). In five modules, renowned researchers and technicians will address the impacts of climate change in the field, reveal innovative solutions that combine bioeconomy, tropical technologies, and sustainable entrepreneurship, and delve into the behind-the-scenes of the COP 30 international negotiations and the climate agenda.
Check out the modules and speakers:
- Climate Change: origins and effects on the sustainability of agriculture | Giampaolo Queiroz Pellegrino, Embrapa researcher in Climate Change and Agriculture.
- Global Negotiation of National Emissions Targets and Control | Gustavo Barbosa Mozzer, researcher at Embrapa's International Relations Office. He works on the COP Transparency negotiations under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

More than just training, it's an invitation to qualified journalism, especially for journalists specializing in programming topics, as well as editors, columnists, professionals and Communication students. Each session connects concepts, data, and real-life cases, translating them into practical examples for those who want to expand their repertoire and improve their performance with depth, credibility, and creativity. Embrapa and solutions for reducing environmental impacts
Embrapa focuses on science and the development of technological solutions, practices, and processes that ensure food and bioproduct production even in the face of adversities imposed by climate change, contributing to the maintenance of nutritional, food, environmental, economic, and social security. The institution believes that the way food is produced, marketed, and consumed is crucial to sustainable development. These systems—when efficient, resilient, and sustainable—guarantee the right to adequate food and provide healthy food, at affordable prices and in adequate quantities, for the entire population. Therefore, reducing the vulnerability of food production and distribution to the negative impacts of climate change is a priority.
Sebrae on the climate agenda
Sebrae believes that Brazil's future depends on the leadership of small businesses, both in rural and urban areas, stimulating sectors such as the bioeconomy, circular economy, regenerative agriculture, and energy transition. It integrates producers, researchers, and the market, structuring production chains that value socio-biodiversity assets. To expand access to knowledge and sustainable solutions, the institution invests in training and tools that promote adaptation to climate change and the prosperity of small businesses in a responsible, competitive, and sustainable manner.
