German political scientist: AfD can still benefit from ostracism against it

This does not mean that some new deep division is emerging because of the success of the AfD in the so-called new states. We are dealing with a situation that occurred at the time in the former GDR – the post-communist party PDS was strong and took part in the state governments. We are talking about voting behavior that is different in the East than in the West, which has many cultural and historical reasons. Voting behavior is different in Bavaria in the same way.
