Sunday Trading? Candidates' Electorates Have Differing Opinions

42% of respondents believe that Sunday shopping should be restored; 49% are of the opposite opinion, and 8% do not know - according to a poll by Opinia24 for Radio Zet. The issue of Sunday shopping divides society, as well as the electorate of presidential candidates.
The majority of Karol Nawrocki and Sławomir Mentzen's voters do not agree to the return to Sunday trading – completely different from the supporters of Rafał Trzaskowski and Szymon Hołownia.
The Opinia24 studio, commissioned by Radio ZET, investigated whether the future president should sign a law restoring Sunday trading. The results of the survey showed that Poles are almost evenly divided on this issue. 42% of respondents believe that Sunday trading should be restored; 49% of respondents have the opposite opinion, and 8% have no opinion on the matter.
Among those who decided to vote for Rafał Trzaskowski, the majority are in favour of restoring Sunday trading (62% yes, 30% no). Among Karol Nawrocki's voters, opposition to this issue prevails (78% no, 19% yes), similarly to the group of people declaring support for Sławomir Mentzen (59% no, 38% yes). On the other hand, Szymon Hołownia's electorate is the most enthusiastic about the idea of restoring Sunday trading (70% yes, 26% no).
Analyzing the responses by party preferences, one can see their convergence with the results taking into account declared support for a specific presidential candidate. Among Law and Justice voters, opposition to the reinstatement of Sunday trading prevails (73% for no, and 21% for yes), similarly among those who declare they will vote for Confederation (58% for no, and 39% for yes) - according to a survey for Radio ZET.
The situation is different among the voters of the Civic Coalition, where the majority would like the future president to sign a law reopening all shops on Sundays (64% yes, 27% no). In turn, supporters of the Third Way – Szymon Hołownia's Poland 2050 and PSL – are clearly divided on this issue, and almost evenly so (47% yes, 51% no).
In turn, the majority of the New Left electorate (63%) agree that a law restoring Sunday trading should be adopted. 30% of left-wing voters have a different opinion, according to a poll conducted for Radio ZET. The remaining percentage in the groups of voters of individual parties and presidential candidates are undecided people who indicated the answer: I don't know / hard to say.
The survey was conducted by the Opinia24 studio on a representative sample of 1,002 Poles aged 18 and over from April 2 to 6, 2025. Percentage results were rounded to full values. (PAP)
