Kraków Balice Airport is bursting at the seams. The old cargo terminal will be rebuilt into a waiting area.

Kraków Balice Airport is bursting at the seams. The old cargo terminal will be rebuilt into a waiting area.

MPL Kraków Balice has signed a contract with Mostostal Warszawa for the implementation of the project "Reconstruction of the existing building of the old cargo terminal for the purposes of temporary pre-departure waiting rooms in the Non-Schengen Zone".

The investment is valued at PLN 28.6 million, with a completion date of nine months. This is crucial before the next summer assault on Krakow Airport begins next year.

The work will begin with the demolition of the existing infrastructure , and then the reconstruction will include a complete, new interior design adapted to the temporary function of a waiting room for departing passengers.

A key element will be creating a connection between the passenger terminal and the facility that will be rebuilt.

"The development of Kraków Airport is a carefully planned process. We are facing a crucial first stage of a broader modernization strategy – the adaptation of the former cargo terminal building, which will soon serve as a waiting area for passengers before boarding, with six additional gates," emphasizes Łukasz Strutyński, CEO of Kraków Airport.

Investments are planned for the coming years, with completion in 2031 expected to allow for the airport to handle 19 million passengers annually. This year, approximately 13 million people are expected to use Kraków Airport's services.

"This is another investment carried out by Mostostal Warszawa for the dynamically developing airport, which confirms the investor's trust in us and our strong position in the infrastructure construction sector," said Maciej Sasak, Director of the Eastern Area of Mostostal Warszawa.

Mostostal Warszawa's main shareholder is Acciona (62.13%) and OFE PZU "Złota Jesień" (19.14%). The company has been listed on the stock exchange since October 1999.
