Speakers are now lined up for the six-day public hearing of PSJ Cobre Mendocino.

A total of 800 applicants were registered in the first 10 days after the call was launched. Free transportation to Uspallata will be available for those unable to travel.
Registration for the public hearing for the PSJ Cobre Mendocino mining project opened on June 27. In 10 days, 800 speakers have registered , which represents approximately six days of presentations .
The Ministry of Energy and Environment clarified that this type of participatory process typically results in a 60% drop, which would reduce the duration to three or four days. However, they also noted that registration is open until 11:59 PM on July 30th, using the following official form , so the number of registrants may increase.
Participation as a speaker will be available both in person and virtually, via the Zoom platform. The hearing will also be available to watch on the Ministry of Energy and Environment's YouTube channel.

Since the company's site is located 45 kilometers from the town of Uspallata , the provincial government, together with the Municipality of Las Heras and the Transportation Secretariat, will offer free transportation , with the aim of ensuring that no citizen is excluded from the possibility of attending in person for transportation reasons.
Marita Ahumada, a master's student in Geology and Environmental Management of Mineral Resources , considered it very valuable that the public hearing be held on the project site, because those who attend, both those for and against the mining industry, will have the opportunity to walk on the land, learn about what will be done, assess the size of the hill (of the mineral outcrop) and verify the distance from population centers.
He also highlighted the positive aspect of the availability of transportation to reach the site. And, above all, that it's an opportunity for the community to express itself.

The voices of all participants will be respected, following a pre-established order that can be consulted before the hearing on the websites of the Mining Directorate and the Directorate of Environmental Management and Oversight.
