Bankruptcy proceedings increase by 7% in Andalusia until September

In the first eight months of 2025, 611 bankruptcy proceedings and 2,953 dissolutions have been registered in Andalusia , according to data on Bankruptcy proceedings and dissolutions extracted by INFORMA D&B SAU (SME), (a subsidiary of Cesce. These figures represent an increase of 7% for the former, compared to the general rise of 4%, while dissolutions rose by 0.2%, compared to the 0.6% decrease in the national average compared to the same months of 2024.
The number of bankruptcies in Andalusia has reached 487 , a 3% increase, worse than the 0.5% increase for the country as a whole. The region also recorded 14 restructuring plans during these eight months, 4 fewer than in 2024, and 110 special procedures for microenterprises, a 31% increase in this case. The national average for special procedures has grown by 30%, but restructuring plans have decreased by 21%.
Trade and constructionCommerce , construction , and real estate activities are the two sectors with the highest number of bankruptcies, dissolutions, and special procedures in the Andalusian community , with 150 and 83 bankruptcies, 535 and 860 dissolutions, and 28 and 18 procedures, respectively. Commerce also has six restructuring plans. By province, Malaga and Seville They have accumulated 114 and 152 bankruptcies and 959 and 672 dissolutions in each case. Almería is the community with the highest number of special procedures, 30, surpassing the 24 in Seville , which also has four restructuring plans.
The region with the highest number of bankruptcies so far this year is Catalonia , with 1,396, 3.5% more than the same period in 2024. Next in line is Madrid , with 599, the same as last year, and close behind is Valencia , with 584, just 1% more. Together, they represent 57% of the total. Catalonia has the largest increase, adding 47.
Catalonia also has the most restructuring plans, with 41, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. Madrid leads the way in terms of special procedures for microenterprises , with 501, 43% of the total, 138 more than in 2024.
Only six autonomous regions have seen a reduction in their bankruptcy proceedings since January : Aragon (-22%), Asturias (-17%), Cantabria (-10%), Castile and León (-19%), Galicia (-0.4%), and the Canary Islands (-14%). Catalonia accounts for just over 26% of the total, 1,534, Madrid 19%, 1,121, and Valencia 13%, 782.
