Highways, Benetton's Mundys wins third stretch in Chile

Highways, Benetton's Mundys wins third stretch in Chile

MILAN – Mundys continues to grow in Chile, winning its third concession in a year . Through its subsidiary Grupo Costanera, the infrastructure leader controlled by the Benetton Group has won a concession for up to 50 years for the Chacao-Chonchi section of Route 5. This 126-kilometer-long infrastructure represents a strategic link between the island of Chiloé and the continent.

Mundys has earmarked 700 million euros of investment to develop the new highway, improve connectivity, safety and sustainable development of the region. Interestingly, Mundys won the tender because, among other things, it made a more conservative estimate of annual revenues on the new infrastructure than its competitors. The tender regulations issued by the Chilean Ministry of Works state that once the toll level estimated by the grantor is reached, the government can take possession of the work .

With this latest award, the Mundys Group 's highway network in Chile increases to approximately 1,300 kilometers, taking into account both existing concessions and those currently under construction, for a gross operating margin that will exceed one billion euros.
