Cisambiente Confindustria and Anas have signed a memorandum of understanding for the promotion of the use, in infrastructure works, of rubber granulate and dust from end-of-life tires (ELT).

“Anas, which manages over 32,000 kilometers of roads and highways, has made the commitment to sustainability its own,” highlighted Claudio Andrea Gemme , CEO of Anas. “The 2021-2025 Program Contract provides for investments of approximately 44 billion euros, with a focus on the strengthening and safety of the network, including environmental mitigation works and the use of recycled materials.”

According to a press release, the association representing the industrial sector Environment, Sustainability, Renewable Energy and Reclamation, explained that the collaboration with Anas "involves the definition of guidelines on technical aspects, the presentation of joint regulatory proposals and awareness-raising activities to convey information to the sector. The goal is to promote the systematic use of these materials in infrastructures by enhancing the recovery of materials from waste" and which give good performance.

Lucia Leonessi , general manager of Cisambiente Confindustria, noted that “from used tires we recover material to reintroduce into production” and the signed agreement confirms the association's activity “alongside companies that invest in recycling and demonstrates the commitment to consolidate a competitive industry model capable of advanced and sustainable solutions”.
