Carrefour is considering exiting Italy.

Carrefour is reportedly considering exiting Italy by selling its network of approximately 1,200 stores, 980 of which are franchises, and employing 18,000 people, both directly and indirectly. According to Corriere della Sera, the French group has entrusted Rothschild with the task of exploring the market for potential buyers. The transaction is said to be part of a strategic review of its assets. Carrefour's goal is to sell the operations to a single buyer, although Bloomberg reports that a multi-part sale is also being considered, given its size in Italy. Carrefour, which has not yet made any decisions, has begun an in-depth strategic review of its asset portfolio, encompassing all businesses and organizational models, in response to "changing market conditions," Bloomberg reports. Representatives for Carrefour and Rothschild have not yet commented on the rumors.
