By LA and QLJordan Bardella has resigned from his mandate as regional councilor of Île-de-France, a decision made via a letter sent in mid-February to the general secretariat of the community led by Valérie Pécresse , according to information from Libération confirmed to Le Parisien by the office of the president of the Île-de-France region.
First elected in 2015, the president of the National Rally was re-elected six years later, when he himself led the list of the Le Pen party. Since 2019, he has no longer been entitled to receive his remuneration of 2,994.84 euros due to the accumulation of mandate allowances, Jordan Bardella having also been a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. No parliamentarian is in fact authorized to receive more than 9,857 euros in cumulative allowances.
At the regional council, the RN leader was exposed to the same accusations of absenteeism as at the European Parliament, where he is accused of appearing as a "ghost deputy" . According to official data published on the institution's website, Bardella had an absenteeism rate of 73% in the second half of 2023. The presence of regional councilors is noted during plenary assemblies, standing or thematic committees.
This resignation propels the second on the departmental list, Colette Levêque, administrative assistant, to lead the RN elected officials on the regional council.
