The Olympic Games, the World Cup, and the Tour de France are all in the same boat. These three major events on the sporting calendar, which are also the most watched by spectators and television viewers worldwide, are raising many questions in the era of climate change . Environmental impact, pollution, waste... the criticism is rife.

In 2019, even before the first pedal stroke, a panel of elected officials and associations castigated the event and caught the caravan cold. At the time, their target was the distribution of "plastic gadgets." ASO, the Tour's organizer, has since significantly scaled back its efforts and changed the nature and origin of the products distributed.
