Social security fraud: 166 million euros recovered by highly organized fraudster networks

In France and abroad, fraudsters methodically defraud family allowance funds. In 2024, €166 million in fraud was detected.
The Family Allowance Fund (CAF) is recording a cascade of social security fraud . Fraudsters are methodically defrauding the CAF by stealing identities, both in France and abroad. It is facing large-scale fraud, with €166 million worth of fraud detected in 2024, representing a third of all fraud.
Last year, police arrested a man responsible for a massive scam that lasted three years, during which he was on the run in the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. He assumed the identities of 74 people to build RSA applications, with the help of a valuable accomplice: his own father, based in France. They stole €177,000. The CAF (French Family Allowance Fund) is countering with more resources, recruiting 43 specialized inspectors and planning to rely on artificial intelligence in the coming months.
