Starting Sunday, June 15, four trains operated by the Italian railway company Trenitalia will operate on the Paris-Marseille route. Prices for a standard seat will start at €27.

It's the big news of the summer. A red and gray train at Marseille station (Bouches-du-Rhône). Starting Sunday, June 15, travelers will be able to board the Trenitalia TGV train to Paris (Île-de-France). For more than three years, the Italian company has already been operating on the Paris-Lyon line. The travelers we met are satisfied with the competition, which is now cheaper than the SNCF.

Some have already booked their Paris-Marseille tickets for their summer vacation. "To go to Marseille on July 18, I paid 49 euros with Trenitalia. If I had wanted to go with SNCF, it would have been 109 euros," explains one user. Paris-Marseille tickets start at 27 euros in standard class, but with only four round trips per day, while SNCF offers 19. The Italians will not offer an additional connection. For three years, French rail has been open to competition. In addition to Trenitalia, Spain's Renfe offers Madrid-Marseille and Barcelona-Lyon services.
