September 18th strike: what mobilizations in Agen?

By Luce Trufier
The CGT (General Confederation of Trade Unions) is calling for an inter-union strike and demonstration on Thursday, September 18, as part of the national protest movement. A rally is planned for 10 a.m. in front of the prefecture.
Following an initial wave of protests on Wednesday, September 10, the people of Agen will gather again on the 18th, this time under the banners of the unions. The CFDT, CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, UNSA, FSU, and Solidaires are calling for a day of "united and interprofessional" mobilization throughout the Lot-et-Garonne region. The demonstration will begin at 10 a.m. at Place Armand-Fallières in Agen, and at 2 p.m. on the Esplanade de Maré in Marmande.
According to the CGT, the hospital, energy, industrial, transport, and cultural sectors will be the most affected by the strikes. The unions are demanding "tax justice" and the "construction of a budget that brings hope." On September 10, nearly 800 people mobilized in Agen, at Place Jasmin and then at the Saint-Jacques roundabout, as part of the "Bloquons Tout" movement. This new wave of protest is demanding, among other things, the repeal of pension reform and the reinstatement of the wealth tax.
