With her Culture(s) project, Carole Nieder explores the links between art and agriculture in the Pays de Montmédy region (Meuse). The artist repurposes agricultural machinery and works with animals to create monumental works. She brings farmers and students on board this adventure, which was awarded a Panthéon prize this Tuesday.

The ground immaculate, devoid of any footprints after the snow has fallen, Carole Nieder arrives with her mask and her travel certificate in her pocket.

"It was January 2021, I was alone in a black and white landscape," recalls this 35-year-old Alsatian, who at the time was discovering the citadel of Montmédy (Meuse) for the very first time. She, who didn't know how to place this town, of some 2,000 souls, on a map...
