In 2016, the law allowed homosexuals to donate blood—which had been prohibited since 1983 due to the risk of transmitting AIDS—on the condition that they had been abstinent for a year. This deadline was reduced to four months in 2019, before this condition was lifted in March 2022, with all references to sexual orientation disappearing from pre-donation questionnaires.

But in September 2022, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) condemned France for violating the right to privacy, the EFS having retained data on a Frenchman presumed to be homosexual – because he did not want to indicate his sexual orientation – whose blood donation had been refused on several occasions.

"The legislative election that will take place in my constituency of the 5th, 6th and 7th arrondissements will be the first step in the rallying and dynamic of victory in Paris (...) I invite the political forces of the right and the center to take their responsibilities. From now on, I will assume mine and I will do so until the end," she declared in an interview with " La Tribune Dimanche " , despite the legal proceedings against her.

The LR mayor of the 7th arrondissement did not appreciate the candidacy of Michel Barnier, whom she considers to be "instrumentalized" , in this constituency where the election of Macronist MP Jean Laussucq was invalidated by the Constitutional Council for irregularities in his campaign accounts. The election is to be held on September 21 and 28.

• Corpses in the Seine: possible serial homophobic crimes, a suspect indicted

The Créteil prosecutor's office confirmed to AFP this Sunday afternoon, August 24, the "charge of murders against the four victims." The suspect, in his twenties, was to be brought before a judge of liberties and detention (JLD) for his remand in custody.

According to information from " Le Parisien " and "Le Monde ", to date, " the most plausible theory is that of serial crimes committed because of the real or supposed sexual orientation of the victims - homosexuality ."
