Haut-Doubs. At the Batailleuse farm in Rochejean, young people enjoy timeless stays

Located at the foot of Mont d'Or, at an altitude of some 900 meters, La Batailleuse is a collectively managed organic farm. It is also a community education association that welcomes children and teenagers to camp for one or two weeks in the great outdoors. These stays encourage interaction, as close as possible to nature and animals. And each year, young enthusiasts return, captivated by the concept.

This adventure in the mountain pastures takes around twenty young people, aged 14 to 17, on a journey to meet the shepherds in the summer pastures, partners of the association, to experience their daily lives for a few days. Archive photo Léna Adami

The cell phone is quickly put aside, with disconcerting ease. At Rochejean, teenagers have no trouble disconnecting from their smartphone world, to immerse themselves in a collective life, surrounded by nature, for the duration of a long hiking trip.
