Garorock, Hellfest, Lollapalooza: Why are tickets getting more and more expensive?

Behind the price increases lies a reality well-known to organizers: soaring artist fees, rising technical costs, and declining subsidies. According to the National Music Center, 33% of contemporary music festivals were loss-making in 2023. To stay afloat, they often have no choice but to raise prices.
Between entry fees, drinks, transportation, and accommodation, a festival weekend can quickly reach 500 to 600 euros. "After four days, the pass, drinks, and food... It goes very quickly." Some people get around the problem by temporarily leaving the site to buy cheaper items in town. "But it spoils the atmosphere a bit. We're less in the festival bubble."
