Employees of "Le Parisien" oppose a possible sale to Bolloré

Employees of "Le Parisien" expressed their "opposition" to the possibility of the daily newspaper being sold to conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré , the subject of persistent rumors in recent weeks, at a general meeting on Thursday, September 11.

"The general meeting (...) mandates the trade union organizations to request an immediate meeting with Pierre Louette" , CEO of the Les Echos-Le Parisien group, "to express his opposition to the proposed sale of Le Parisien to the Bolloré group" , is written in this motion consulted by the AFP.
The text, which "denounces the silence of management," was adopted unanimously by the 474 participants, with four abstentions. Contacted by AFP, the group's management declined to comment.
In its motion, the General Assembly also expresses "its attachment to the preservation of a national and local news press title composed of independent journalists, to the freedom to inform and to be informed" .
The Les Echos-Le Parisien group is owned by the world's leading luxury group, LVMH, owned by billionaire Bernard Arnault. On Monday, the magazine "Challenges" published an article about the possible sale of "Le Parisien/Aujourd'hui" in France to Vincent Bolloré, following several weeks of rumors.

Vincent Bolloré has the Canal+ group under his wing, which notably includes CNews, regularly the leading news channel in terms of audience share.
The conservative billionaire is also present in the press via the number one in the magazine sector, Prisma Media ("Voici", "Capital", "Femme actuelle"...), and via Lagardère (Europe 1, "Le JDD"...).
