2026 Budget: François Bayrou's measures targeting the middle and lower income classes

Decryption Since the Prime Minister's announcements on the budgetary direction for 2026, many voices have spoken out to denounce a form of inequality between the wealthiest French people, who would be less affected by the reforms, and the others.

" A fair and shared effort. " Following François Bayrou's announcement of the 2026 budget guidelines on Tuesday, July 15, the Prime Minister's troops strove to defend this plan, which aims to save €43.8 billion and reduce the public deficit from 5.8% in 2024 to 4.6% in 2026.
However, while the measures are intended to be quantified, detailed and with a supporting timetable for the blank year, the two public holidays to be eliminated, the reduction of public sector jobs or even the reduction in local authority spending, this is much less the case with the few announcements by François Bayrou on high net worth individuals and "abusive optimisation".
