Government publishes Armando Benedetti's resume to be the new Minister of the Interior

As sources from the Casa de Nariño confirmed to EL TIEMPO last Saturday, February 22, Armando Benedetti will be the new Minister of the Interior of President Gustavo Petro's government.
The information was officially confirmed on the evening of Monday, February 24, after his resume was published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.

This is a step that indicates that his appointment is imminent and that his designation is in process. The only remaining step is the publication of the decree that will make his designation official.
Benedetti will be the fourth Minister of the Interior of President Petro's government, a portfolio that was also held by Alfonso Prada, Luis Fernando Velasco and, more recently, Juan Fernando Cristo.
Benedetti, for his part, will assume his fifth position within the current president's Executive. Since Petro became president, Benedetti has served as Colombia's ambassador to Venezuela, head of the FAO diplomatic mission in Italy, and advisor to the Presidency on legislative matters.

He was recently appointed as Chief of Staff, triggering a crisis in the Executive. The dissatisfaction with his presence was evident on February 4th in the first televised cabinet meeting, live and direct, in which important figures of the Government rejected his arrival, stating that he was not compatible with the values of the Government of change.
Among those who expressed their dissatisfaction were Vice President Francia Márquez, Environment Minister Susana Muhamad, and the director of Social Prosperity, Gustavo Bolívar, among others.
