THIS is how much it will cost to travel on a cruise in 2025

In the 21st century, there are no excuses for not traveling on a huge cruise ship—unless you're prone to nausea, or you just don't care about polluting too much. It's a tremendously uncomfortable truth, but cruises are one of the most polluting side effects of tourism. If this, in reality, matters very little to you, you should know that you can find cruises from Mexico or nearby ports with prices starting at very affordable prices.

For example, 5-day cruises departing from Los Angeles and visiting Ensenada or Catalina can cost from 7,248 pesos per person.

A longer 8-day itinerary, also departing from Los Angeles and visiting Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta, starts at approximately 23,907 pesos, while a similar 8-day itinerary starts at 19,550 pesos. Similarly, an 8-day cruise to the Bahamas and the Mexican coast from Port Canaveral (Orlando) starts at 11,589 pesos.

According to the travel blog Mariel de Viaje, a 3- to 5-day trip in an interior cabin can cost between 5,000 and 10,000 pesos; while a cabin with a balcony for the same period can cost between 12,000 and 20,000 pesos; and a suite from 25,000 to 35,000 pesos.

For longer trips of 6 to 9 days, inside cabins range from 10,000 to 20,000, with balconies ranging from 20,000 to 30,000, and suites range from 35,000 to 45,000. All in all, a budget-friendly 5- to 8-day inside-cabin cruise typically costs between $5,000 and $12,000 in 2025, depending on the departure port—for example, Los Angeles or Galveston—and available promotions.

Inside or outside? Facing the sea or the wall?

If you prefer a cabin with a balcony, prices typically range between 12,000 and 30,000 pesos for week-long trips, while a suite for the same number of days could cost an average of 35,000 to 45,000 pesos.

Furthermore, it is important to consider that Mexico has postponed and significantly reduced the collection of taxes for cruise passengers in 2025. A planned tax of $42 per passenger was reduced to just $5, helping to keep boarding costs low and avoiding steep increases for tourists disembarking at Mexican ports.

Cruise travel in 2025 on routes to and from Mexico is affordable: from 5,000 pesos for very basic short-haul options to 45,000 pesos for standard cruises and suites, depending on the cabin type and length. For more sophisticated or luxury cruises, prices can be considerably higher, but these figures are not directly derived from offers in Mexican pesos.
